Story behind the painting:
When I make my paintings, I usually spend weeks imagining them before I ever start sketching or painting. With this piece, I chose to break that pattern. I began without any plan or expectation of what it would become.
It was created during one of the lowest points of my burnout, in a period filled with long panic attacks and emotional overwhelm.
I started with a background of wiggly, unsettled lines. I made this entirely with my bare hands, letting the paint move directly through touch and instinct.
Layer by layer, I added heavy black strokes creating contrast, weight, and tension across the surface. In the center, I painted a small girl holding a green umbrella, from which black rain is falling down around her.
The umbrella carries hints of gold, but she cannot see it. Her view is completely consumed by the dark rain she is standing in. This reflects the idea that even when good things are present, they can feel invisible when you are in the middle of darkness.

Paper
Premium Fine Art White Velvet 270 gsm
White Velvet is a museum-quality paper developed for premium art prints. This high-end paper is used in print studios and galleries worldwide for art reproductions and exhibitions. Weighing 270 grams per square meter, the paper feels firm yet smooth. The paper combines 25% cotton and 75% alpha-cellulose, a refined plant fiber. This blend creates a natural texture without gloss or reflection. It contributes to a subtle refined appearance that suits artworks where soft tones and depth are important. Compared to standard fine art papers, White Velvet has higher whiteness, making colors appear brighter and contrasts sharper. It is acid- and lignin-free, ensuring that prints will remain vibrant and intact when properly cared for. The paper works perfectly with pigment inks, producing prints that capture the original artwork.
